Killer

Great job man! I really enjoyed this one! Very slick style and smooth animation!

What else would I expect from a fellow Dix? =P

Keep it up!

Gregg-Dix responds:

Wow, thanks, a former dix? Your last name Dix as well? Sweet.

Great effort here

I like what you're doing with this one. It had a pretty even tone and good pacing for being as long as it was. The music served to temper the mood quite well. I do, However offer a few suggestions for the future.

I think that more could have done to promote ambience. Flickering lights, spiders crawling, etc. Things like that can really help pull the viewer in.

I think it would also behoove you to expand on the charecter's facial expressions. The protagonist tended to smile a lot where I didn't really feel that it was appropriate for him to smile. Same goes for the bartender. This is doubly important in a piece where no charecters speak.

All in all, very good work. Keep on submitting quality stuff!

How could this get any better?

I can't imagine how long this took if it was just one person working on it. Everything was seamless and everything moved perfectly with the music. I even LAUGHED a few times, and I never laugh!!!

What else can I say? This is dope.

Tons of "wha...?" factor here

Very, very bizzare stuff here. I'm not entirely sure what it meant, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Great animation for the main charecter... and while I know that you were trying to make the "simplified" world look intentionally bad, I would have opeted to clean things up a bit. Just my 2 cents.

Very nice work!

Simply Amazing

You got everything right. I can't really say more than that. This was simple and beautiful. Everything worked. Wow.

Stryda responds:

glad you feel that way. In all honesty I would of liked to have tighted up some things and had more of the scenes I had to cut. But Im quite pleased that it seems to be connecting with people anyway.

This guy TRIED

You know what? I've seen some animations on newgrouds that were absolutely breathtaking. A lot in fact... that have made me felt like the author was doing it less from the love of the art and more for an ego stoke. In fact, there might be one or two in the top fifty. Empty is the word.

This animation made me feel the opposite of that. Through the care and clever variation of scenes I could sense tangible passion for his art. That is what every artist should strive for, and that is what this flash accomplished.

ryer responds:

a very inspiring speach... thank you! And just to tell you, I am a girl...

The initial reaction is to hate it...

...but then you've watched it 20 times in a row and you've developed your OWN numa numa dance!!!

Good job, you may have just created a new internet phenomenon.

Great Job

I really liked the art direction in this one. Beautiful use of color. Very ambitious. You have enourmous potential... keep up the great work!

Things I treasure most...

Atari... BOC... and that underlying feeling of hazy acrylic nostalgia. I'm too tired to comment on the parallels that you deftly extrude from this presentation... I'm elated just to wrap myself in that ethereal aesthetic in which I conduct all manners of self expression... an aesthetic and tone that you managed to distill 100%.

robototron responds:

All I can say is thank you so much. This ranks among the best reviews I've ever read, let alone received. Its source, a celebrated NG artist, only makes me that much more humbled.

Dude... why?

I think the Waterman series is finally starting to come together in terms of charecter development and style. Why you would decide to alienate your fans and break your stride with such a presumably hastily made decision is beyond me. I have received some really nasty, ugly and downright hateful reviews in the past. Yes, they pissed me off. Yes, they bummed me out. Did they stop me? Hells no! I just had to suck it up and decide to take the good with the bad.

But that's me and not you. While I think your decision to stop posting the Waterman series on NG is completely counterproductive, I ultimately respect your decision.

It truly sucks, though. There's really no going back at this point. Most people probably won't let you live this down...

Everybody loses. =/

P.S. - Great episode!

No. Let's talk about YOU.
